Brief:

Our clients wanted to reclad the existing kitchen living room external walls and add more living space to the existing single storey house, the project brief then grew to renovating the kitchen, adding more space to the laundry and renovating both bathrooms.

Design Constraints:

Building on the boundary next to private open space created issues of overshadowing. By lowering and angling to the roof of the new living area, we overcame this issue. working with existing built form and openings, meant we had to tailor the new design around the existing rear building.

Design Resolution:

In the design resolution of the project, we create a new living room that connected to the newly landscaped garden and used a smaller new space, to be used as a home office, to separate the new living room form the existing rear living room. we created triple sliding doors on the outside of the building so that when open, they provide a larger opening, with retractable flyscreens.
