Ivanhoe House 2
Brief:
To re-plan the house to suit the needs of our client, retaining 2 bedrooms, bathroom, laundry area, and an open plan living kitchen dining area.
Design Constraints:
The brief did not allow us to extend beyond the existing footprint, nor move any external walls.
Design Resolution:
With a close design review with the client and their brief, we moved the wet areas away from the usable outside space and reconfigured the ground floor living area, retaining the existing bedrooms.
We opened up the north and west sides of the house for internal living and connected to the renovated existing western deck. The island bench was designed to be both dining room table and kitchen island bench.
We explored a few options with regards to more complex design solutions, yet with a tight budget we opted for a more simple approach to the living area roof and went from a vaulted complex ceiling to multiple large skylight shafts set between the existing roof framing.
